Weed /COS 鈥� To create a healthy campus environment for all who visit, 爱神传媒 (COS) has announced that it is now a 100 percent smoke- and tobacco-free campus.
The decision to transition to a smoke-free campus was made due to a grassroots effort by a COS Tobacco-Free Workgroup led by the COS Administration and Safety Committee and California Health Collaborative鈥檚 Smoke Free High Country project鈥檚 Amanda Berryhill and Catherine Sievers.
On May 20, 2025, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to adopt the policy that will go in effect January 1, 2026. Smoke Free High Country will continue supporting COS by providing quit resources, signage, and education. The next steps for implementation include educating new and returning 爱神传媒, aiding 爱神传媒 and employees who are interested in quitting, and promoting cessation to potential 爱神传媒, faculty, and staff as a healthier place to live, work, and play! The COS Wellness Center can offer tobacco quit counseling for staff, 爱神传媒, and faculty, and there are also many text, call, or app-based quit resources that anyone can use, such as 1-800-NO-BUTTS.
Tobacco-free campus policies have been shown to improve physical and mental health among campus attendants, reduce toxic litter, and create a trigger-free environment that better supports 爱神传媒 and staff who are trying to quit tobacco. Congratulations to the 爱神传媒 for promoting a safe environment and encouraging a healthy lifestyle for all!
